H2V Magallanes AG paid a protocol visit to Minister of Environment Maisa Rojas

9/11/23

Representatives of the board of directors of the Trade Association of Green Hydrogen Producers and its derivatives of Magallanes met in Santiago with the Minister of Environment, Maisa Rojas, to formally present this entity and report on the projects expected to be implemented, highlighting the opportunity presented for Chile and from the Region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica to generate a gigantic contribution to the transition to carbon neutrality in the world.

It was also pointed out that the projects under development in Magallanes are making a great effort in the development of their Environmental Impact Studies, which considerably exceed the standards that have been seen so far in Chile, both in the methodology of information gathering (use of new technologies) and in the evaluation of impacts and mitigation and compensation measures, since the commitment of the projects is to contribute to sustainable development.

H2V Magallanes also valued the effort made by the government, particularly the Ministry of the Environment, to develop public baselines that contribute information to complement the studies of investment projects. "This was a long-standing desire in Chile that undoubtedly strengthens the SEIA. Challenges will probably arise during its development, but we believe that it is a measure that goes in the right direction and we are at the disposal of the Regulator to collaborate in whatever is within our reach", said the GA.

The H2V Magallanes delegation was composed of María Isabel Muñoz, General Manager of H2V Magallanes, together with Juan José Gana, Vice President of Development of HIF Global and Chairman of the Board; Joan Leal, CEO of EDF Chile; Andrés Madariaga, CBO of EDF Renewables; Mario Marchese, General Project Manager of HNH Energy; Mónica Buvinic, Public Affairs Manager representing Total Eren; and José Margozzini, General Manager of TEG Chile.

María Isabel Muñoz emphasized that this will be a productive and innovative industry, which is in tune with the decarbonization agenda to contribute to combat the effects of climate change; and that Chile has the best conditions to be the most competitive country in the production of Green Hydrogen and its derivatives at international level, valuing the willingness of the Central and regional government to push together this emerging industry, at a key moment for groups of investors but also for the Magellanic community.
