H2V Magallanes highlights importance of Green Hydrogen Action Plan for the take-off of the future industry

2/5/24

H2V Magallanes highlighted the importance of the Green Hydrogen Action Plan 2023-2030 officially presented this Thursday, May 2 at the Palacio de La Moneda, an event headed by the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric Font.

President Boric pointed out that the Green Hydrogen Action Plan 2023-2030 is part of a National Green Hydrogen Strategy, which aims to reduce installation and production costs, in order to position Chile among the most competitive producers worldwide and among the main exporters by 2040, also defining better environmental, social and labor standards.

The General Manager of H2V Magallanes, María Isabel Muñoz, highlighted the relevance of this instrument, which considers 81 relevant and complementary actions and measures to establish the appropriate conditions for the take-off and development of the green hydrogen industry and its derivatives.

Among other aspects, the plan proposes public-public coordination to establish enabling regulations and rules for the development of the projects.

"We appreciate the support and commitment of the State to give continuity to this State Policy and move forward with concrete measures," he said, pointing out the need to review and improve some aspects of this instrument for its optimal application.

The Trade Association is made up of seven projects -at different stages of development- aimed at producing hydrogen and its derivatives in the Region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica, specifically in the provinces of Magallanes and Tierra del Fuego.

This week the incorporation of a new partner -Consorcio Austral- was made official, demonstrating that the GA continues to grow. Thus, Consorcio Austral joins EDF Chile, EDF Renewables, HIF Chile, HNH Energy, TEG Chile and TotalEnergies H2.
