H2V Magallanes representatives highlight meeting with director of the Environmental Assessment Service (SEMA)

22/11/23

The executive director of the Environmental Assessment Service, Valentina Durán, met in Punta Arenas with representatives of the Trade Association of Green Hydrogen Producers and its derivatives of Magallanes, who are promoting projects and public policies related to the development of the green hydrogen industry in the area.

During the meeting, the highest authority of the SEA made a presentation detailing the various measures that the Service is promoting for the correct processing of this type of projects, which will provide technical and legal certainty to all the actors involved.

Valentina Durán referred to the meeting with the guild stating that "we listened to their concerns and challenges, and we have been working to ensure that solid, robust, well-constructed projects enter the environmental impact assessment in this industry as important as green hydrogen".

The general manager of the association, María Isabel Muñoz, said, "We know that we need good standards and we want to do things well. We value the role played by the Environmental Evaluation Service in this enormous task of coordinating and regulating the agencies of the state administration that have environmental competence. But we must have deadlines, certainty and clarity in the application of the guidelines. For us there is a regulatory framework that we will comply with and, in fact, there are projects in the continent that are investing and betting on the use of cutting-edge technological innovations, with unprecedented methodologies for the use of radars, which are not currently part of the required regulatory framework".
